If you already check a registry for your detergent and baby products, it is fair to ask whether the soap that washes bottles and plates can be checked the same way. One dish soap we could confirm does appear there: the Meliora Dish Soap Bar. This page covers that single product: what the mark covers, what is in the bar, how a solid dish soap is used and where it stops being convenient.
Why Shoppers Search for a MADE SAFE Certified Dish Soap Bar
Dish soap touches everything your family eats from, and most liquid formulas list a long run of surfactants, dyes and fragrance. A registry listing gives you something to look up, which a front-label word like "natural" does not. A solid bar also skips the plastic pump bottle, which is the other reason people search for one.
What the MADE SAFE® Mark Covers, and What It Does Not
MADE SAFE® is a nonprofit ingredient-screening program. Ingredients in a submitted formula are checked against the program's Banned/Restricted list, and the public registry at index.madeworks.com shows which products passed. Our guide to what MADE SAFE certified means covers the program in full.
It is an ingredient screen and nothing more. It does not certify that a bar cuts grease, that it disinfects or sanitizes, or any health outcome. It is not a safety guarantee. EWG has no part in this certification, and this article rests on the MADE SAFE® basis alone.
Why This Is a Spotlight, Not a Ranked List
We found one dish soap in the registry that we could confirm in stock on Amazon. Ranking one product against nothing would be filler, so this is a spotlight. For other products from the same maker, see our Meliora cleaning scrub spotlight and our Meliora laundry soap stick spotlight. For cleaners for the rest of the nursery, see MADE SAFE nursery cleaning products.
The Meliora Dish Soap Bar, Lemon
Meliora Dish Soap Bar, Lemon, $15.99
This is a solid bar of soap sold in a plastic-free box. Meliora lists it at 7 oz, and at the price we saw on October 23, 2026, that works out to about $2.28 an ounce. That is more than a big bottle of liquid soap costs by weight, though the bar is concentrated and a little goes a long way. Subscribe and Save pricing was also listed. Prices move, so check the listing.
Maker and retailer pages describe a soap based on organic coconut and sunflower oils, scented with organic lemon essential oil, with no synthetic fragrance, dyes, preservatives or palm oil. We have not reproduced the full label here, so read the ingredient list on the listing before you buy, especially if anyone in your home reacts to citrus oils. The unscented version of the bar skips the lemon.
Basis: MADE SAFE® certified. The registry entry lists the Dish Soap Bar in Lemon and Unscented, so the Lemon bar is in scope.
Does not certify: grease-cutting performance, disinfection, or any health outcome.

How to Use It, and Where It Stops
Meliora's directions are simple: wet a sponge, brush or cloth, rub it over the bar to pick up soap, then wash the dish and rinse. Keep the bar on a draining dish between uses so it does not sit in water and turn mushy.
Plan for the limits. A bar needs a sponge or brush to work, so it suits hand washing better than a quick squirt into a sink of water. Bar soap can leave a film in hard water, and heavy baked-on grease may need extra scrubbing or a soak. It is not a disinfectant, so it will not replace sanitizing a bottle the way your pediatrician or the bottle maker advises.
If you want to compare liquids, our non-toxic dish soap guide using EWG ratings uses a different organization's basis, so the two pages should not be read as one scale. Our dish soap swap page walks through switching.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Meliora Dish Soap Bar MADE SAFE certified?
Yes, according to its entry in the MADE SAFE registry, which lists the bar in Lemon and Unscented. The registry can change, so confirm the entry before you buy.
Does EWG certify dish soap?
No. MADE SAFE and EWG are separate organizations with separate programs. We are not affiliated with either, and this product is presented on its MADE SAFE® basis only.
Is MADE SAFE a safety guarantee?
No. It screens ingredients against a restricted list. It does not promise any health outcome or that a bar will cut through grease.
How do you use a dish soap bar?
Wet a sponge or brush, rub it on the bar to load it with soap, wash, then rinse. Let the bar drain between uses.
How is this different from your EWG dish soap guide?
That guide uses EWG's own ratings. This page uses a MADE SAFE registry listing, which is a different program with different criteria.
