If you have seen the MADE SAFE® mark on laundry powder or baby products and wondered whether anything for scrubbing a sink or tub carries it, the answer is Meliora's Gentle Home Cleaning Scrub. This page looks at that one product: what the mark covers, what is in the canister, how it is used and where it stops being useful.
Why Parents Search for a MADE SAFE Certified Cleaning Scrub
Sinks, tubs, stovetops and high chair trays get gritty, and a lot of shelf-bought scouring powders are built around bleach or harsh abrasives. Parents who already look for a certification on the things they wash clothes with often want the same on the thing they scrub the bathtub with. A registry listing gives you something to check, which is more than a front-label word like "natural" offers.
What the MADE SAFE® Mark Covers, and What It Does Not
MADE SAFE® is a nonprofit ingredient-screening program run by Nontoxic Certified. Ingredients in a submitted formula are checked against the program's Banned/Restricted list, and the registry at index.madeworks.com shows which products passed. Our guide to what MADE SAFE certified means covers the program in full.
It is an ingredient screen and nothing more. It does not certify that a scrub disinfects or sanitizes, that it is right for every surface, or any health outcome. It is not a safety guarantee. EWG has no part in this certification, and this article rests on the MADE SAFE® basis alone.
Why This Is a Spotlight, Not a Ranked List
MADE SAFE's index lists very few household cleaners, and only one scrub we could confirm in stock on Amazon. Ranking a single product against nothing would be filler, so this is a spotlight. For a wider look at the brand's certified household range, including this scrub, see our MADE SAFE certified cleaning products for the nursery. Meliora Gentle Home Cleaning Scrub in Depth
Meliora Cleaning Products Gentle Home Cleaning Scrub, Peppermint Tea Tree, $13.44
The scrub is a dry powder in a 12 oz paper-and-steel canister. At the price we saw on October 22, 2026, that works out to about $1.12 an ounce. Subscribe and Save pricing was also listed. Prices move, so check the listing.
Meliora's own page lists the ingredients in this scent as sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), vegetable soap (sodium cocoate, glycerin, organic coconut oil and water), organic peppermint leaf oil and tea tree oil. So the scrubbing comes from baking soda, with a soap to lift grease. There is no bleach on that list.
Basis: MADE SAFE® certified. The registry entry covers all current sizes and packaging and names two scents, Peppermint Tea Tree and Unscented.
Does not certify: disinfection, suitability for every surface, or any health outcome.

The scent matters. The listing we link is Peppermint Tea Tree, so it smells of peppermint and tea tree oil. The Unscented version is also in the MADE SAFE® registry, but it is a different product from this listing, and we have not linked one. If you are avoiding fragrance, look for it on Meliora's own site.
How to Use It
Meliora's directions are simple. Wet the surface with warm water, sprinkle on a small amount, scrub with a damp rag or sponge, rinse with warm water and wipe dry. A little goes a long way, which is why one canister lasts. Try it on a hidden spot first if the surface is polished stone, soft enamel or anything easily scratched, since the mark says nothing about surface suitability.
It cleans. It does not disinfect, and we make no germ-killing claim for it. If you are comparing it with a classic scouring powder, our scouring powder alternatives swap guide lays out the options, and our all-purpose cleaner guide covers sprays, which this does not replace.
