If you look for the MADE SAFE® mark on laundry powder and baby products, you may wonder whether a stain remover carries it too. One does that we could confirm: the Meliora Soap Stick for Laundry Stain Removal. This page covers that single product: what the mark covers, what is in the stick, how it is used and where it stops being useful.

Why Shoppers Search for a MADE SAFE Certified Stain Remover

Spit-up, banana, grass and mystery smudges land on clothes faster than a wash cycle can keep up. Many spray stain removers list a long run of ingredients, and parents who already check a registry for their detergent often want the same check for the thing they rub on a onesie. A registry listing gives you something to look up, which a front-label word like "natural" does not.

What the MADE SAFE® Mark Covers, and What It Does Not

MADE SAFE® is a nonprofit ingredient-screening program. Ingredients in a submitted formula are checked against the program's Banned/Restricted list, and the public registry at index.madeworks.com shows which products passed. Our guide to what MADE SAFE certified means covers the program in full.

It is an ingredient screen and nothing more. It does not certify that a stain will come out, that a product disinfects, that it suits every fabric, or any health outcome. It is not a safety guarantee. EWG has no part in this certification, and this article rests on the MADE SAFE® basis alone.

Why This Is a Spotlight, Not a Ranked List

The registry lists very few laundry stain treatments, and only one from a brand we could confirm in stock on Amazon. Ranking one product against nothing would be filler, so this is a spotlight. For laundry powder and detergent from the same brand, see our MADE SAFE certified laundry detergent guide. For another product from the same maker, see our Meliora cleaning scrub spotlight.

The Meliora Soap Stick for Laundry Stain Removal

Meliora Cleaning Products Soap Stick Stain Remover, $10.99

This is a solid bar of soap in a small paperboard box, made to be rubbed on a wet stain before washing. Meliora lists it at about 1.7 oz, and it comes unscented. At the price we saw on October 23, 2026, that works out to roughly $6.50 an ounce. Subscribe and Save pricing was also listed. Prices move, so check the listing.

Meliora's own page lists four ingredients: sodium cocoate (coconut oil that has been made into soap), glycerin, organic coconut oil and water. There is no bleach, no enzyme blend and no fragrance on that list.

Basis: MADE SAFE® certified. The registry entry says certified in all currently available sizes and packaging options.
Does not certify: stain removal performance, disinfection, suitability for every fabric, or any health outcome.
Registry: Meliora Soap Stick (Laundry Stain Removal) entry

How to Use It, and Where It Stops

Meliora's directions: wet the stained area, rub the stick over it until you work up a lather, then wash as usual. Treat the stain soon after it happens and avoid drying the garment before the stain is gone. Meliora lists food, grass, dirt, oil and baby messes among the stains it is meant for.

Plan for the limits. It is a soap, so it works best on fresh stains and on fabric that is wet when you start. Set-in or heat-dried stains may take a second round, and some will not budge. The mark says nothing about how well it removes any stain, so test an out-of-sight spot on delicate or brightly dyed fabric first.

If you would rather compare sprays and gels, our stain remover guide using EWG ratings uses a different organization's basis, so the two pages should not be read as one scale. Our EWG-rated laundry detergent page covers the wash itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Meliora Soap Stick MADE SAFE certified?
Yes, according to its entry in the MADE SAFE registry, which covers all currently available sizes and packaging options. The registry can change, so confirm the entry before you buy.

Does EWG certify stain removers?
No. MADE SAFE and EWG are separate organizations with separate programs. We are not affiliated with either, and this product is presented on its MADE SAFE® basis only.

Is MADE SAFE a safety guarantee?
No. It screens ingredients against a restricted list. It does not promise any health outcome or that a stain will come out.

Is the Soap Stick the same as Meliora's laundry powder?
No. They are separate products with separate registry entries. Our laundry detergent guide covers the powder.

How is this different from your EWG stain remover guide?
That guide uses EWG's own ratings. This page uses a MADE SAFE registry listing, which is a different program with different criteria.
