If you are hunting for a non toxic kids desk for a toddler or preschooler, the useful thing to look for is a named mark on the exact model, not a "non-toxic finish" line in the listing. This short guide covers three GREENGUARD Gold certified sets for a first art, snack and homework spot: two low chair desks and one table with two chairs. All three come from one brand, Delta Children, and we say why below.
One Brand, and Why
Delta Children is the only maker we could find that states GREENGUARD Gold on its own product pages for the exact kids' desk and table sets sold on Amazon. Other brands showed up in search, but none gave us a model-specific statement we could point to, so they stay off the list. That makes this a single-brand guide, not a survey of the whole category.
We also did not get a clean match in UL's public SPOT database, so every pick rests on what Delta states on its product page for that model. Marks can lapse, so check the current listing before you buy.
What GREENGUARD Gold Does and Does Not Cover
GREENGUARD Gold is a certification from UL Solutions built on the UL 2818 standard. It tests a finished product for chemical emissions, including volatile organic compounds, and its Gold tier is aimed at places like schools and childcare settings. Delta describes its certified pieces as screened for more than 10,000 chemicals and VOCs.
It does not test sturdiness, stability or how well a chair holds up, and it is not a promise that a product is free of chemicals. It also does not come from EWG. The Environmental Working Group does not rate or certify furniture, so you will not find an EWG mark or a Skin Deep entry for a desk. GREENGUARD Gold is the mark that applies here.

Delta Children MySize Chair Desk with Storage Bin, Navy, $42.00
The MySize is a single low desk with an attached chair and a storage bin under the seat. It suits one child at a time, which makes it a good fit for a corner of a bedroom. Delta's product page lists it as GREENGUARD Gold Certified. Delta lists the chair rating at 50 pounds. The price shown here, $42.00, is what we saw on October 24, 2026, and it changes, so check the listing.

Delta Children Space Adventures Chair Desk with Storage Bin, Blue, $42.99
Same format as the MySize, with a space-themed print on the desktop for kids who like a bit of decoration. It has the same storage bin and the same kind of low, one-child footprint. Delta's page for this model states GREENGUARD Gold Certified and recommends it for toddlers 18 months and up, with a 50 pound limit. Pick it over the MySize on looks alone, since the two are close in price and size.

Delta Children Marvel Spider-Man Kids Table Set with Storage, Blue/Red, $59.99
This is a table with two chairs, not a single desk, so it is the one to pick if two kids will share a surface or a friend comes over to color. The tabletop is about 24 by 24 inches and there is storage built in. Delta's page for the Spider-Man set states GREENGUARD Gold Certified. Note that the certification statement here is for this Spider-Man model, not for every Delta table set; we left out similar sets where the maker page did not name the exact model.

How to Check the Exact Model
Open the maker's product page for the model, not just the brand page, and look for the words "GREENGUARD Gold Certified" next to the model name. Then compare the color and set you are ordering with that page. You can also search UL's public SPOT directory at spot.ul.com by brand and model, though it did not return clean results for us. If you cannot find the statement for your exact model, treat the certification as unconfirmed.
Pairing With Bigger Furniture
A chair desk is a stage piece. By age six or seven most kids want a full-size desk, a dresser and shelves. Our GREENGUARD Gold certified kids furniture guide covers those, and the nursery-stage pieces live in our GREENGUARD Gold certified cribs guide and our nursery gliders guide. When the desk goes in a room that also needs a bed, see our MADE SAFE certified toddler mattress guide, which uses a different mark for a different question. See our GREENGUARD Gold Toy Storage: Delta MySize Toy Box and Contender Bookcase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does EWG rate or certify kids' desks?
No. EWG does not have a rating or certification program for furniture. NonToxicFinder is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with EWG.
What does GREENGUARD Gold test?
Chemical emissions from the finished product, including VOCs, against UL's Gold-tier limits under UL 2818.
Does the mark mean the desk is free of chemicals?
No. It means the product met specific emissions limits in testing. It says nothing about stability, sturdiness or any health outcome, and we make no health or safety claims about the products listed.
How do I check a specific model?
Read the maker's page for the exact model and color, and search UL SPOT at spot.ul.com if you want a second source.
What ages fit a chair desk?
It depends on the set. Delta recommends the Space Adventures Chair Desk for toddlers 18 months and up and the Spider-Man set for ages 3 and up, with a 50 pound limit on the chair desks. Check each listing for current age and weight limits.
