If you want non toxic toy storage for a playroom or bedroom, start with the mark on the exact piece, not the word "natural" in a listing. This is a short spotlight, not a ranked list. Only two toy storage products passed our check: a toy box with bins and a two shelf bookcase. Both state GREENGUARD Gold on the maker's own product page, and we explain below what that does and does not mean.

Delta MySize Deluxe Toy Box

The Delta Children MySize Deluxe Toy Box is the better fit if your main problem is a pile of loose toys. It pairs an open frame with 12 plastic bins, so small kids can drop things in and sort by bin. Delta's product page for the toy box lists it as GREENGUARD Gold Certified and links to its explanation of the mark.

One detail to check before ordering: the Amazon listing we verified is the Dusty Rose and white/pink colorway. We are not extending the certification statement to other colors, because the maker page is what we read, and you should confirm the color you are buying against it. UL's public SPOT directory shows Delta Children as a GREENGUARD Gold manufacturer, but it did not give us a separate line for this toy box, so we rely on Delta's page.

Certification basis: GREENGUARD Gold, stated by Delta Children on its product page
ASIN: B0CTK2QZG4 (in stock when checked on October 28, 2026; the price moves, so check the listing)

Contender 2 Shelf Kids Bookcase

The Contender 2 Shelf bookcase from RRI Goods is a different kind of storage. It is a birch plywood unit with a full length open shelf, meant for books, baskets and larger toys that you want a child to reach and put back. The maker's product page says the bookcase is GREENGUARD Gold certified.

That is a maker statement only. UL SPOT had no Contender entry when we searched, so we say "per the maker's product page" and nothing stronger. If that matters to you, ask the maker for the certificate before you buy. It is also the pricier of the two, so compare the current listing price against what you need to store.

Certification basis: GREENGUARD Gold, stated by the maker (RRI Goods) on its product page
ASIN: B00GTQWY1M (natural finish, in stock when checked on October 28, 2026)

What GREENGUARD Gold Covers and Does Not Cover

GREENGUARD Gold is a certification from UL Solutions based on the UL 2818 standard. It tests a finished product for chemical emissions, including volatile organic compounds, with limits meant for places like schools and childcare settings.

It does not test whether a toy box is stable, whether a bookcase can tip, or how well anything holds up. It is not a promise that a product is free of chemicals, and we make no health or safety claims about either product. Wall anchoring for a bookcase is separate guidance from the maker and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The mark also does not come from EWG. The Environmental Working Group has no rating or certification program for furniture, so you will not find an EWG mark or Skin Deep entry for a toy box.

Why This Pool Is Short

Many listings for toy organizers say "non-toxic" in the title with no named mark behind it. We left those out. We also did not reuse the Storkcraft cube bookcases, because they already appear in our GREENGUARD Gold certified kids furniture guide, which also covers dressers. If the toy storage is for a young child's first desk corner, our GREENGUARD Gold toddler chair and desk sets include built-in storage. For the floor under all of it, see our GREENGUARD Gold certified play mat guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does GREENGUARD Gold actually test?
Chemical emissions from the finished product, including VOCs, against UL's Gold tier limits under UL 2818.

Does EWG certify toy boxes or bookcases?
No. EWG does not have a rating or certification program for furniture. NonToxicFinder is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with EWG.

Does GREENGUARD Gold mean a toy box is safe?
No. It covers emissions only. It says nothing about tip-over, structure or any health outcome, and we make no health or safety claims about the products listed.

Is a certified toy box the same as certified toys?
No. The mark applies to the storage piece, not to what goes in it.

How do I check a maker's certification claim?
Read the maker's page for the exact model and color, and search UL SPOT at spot.ul.com by brand and product if you want a second source.

GREENGUARD Gold status for each pick rests on the maker's own product page statement, not on a per-product UL SPOT match. Stock was checked on October 28, 2026 and can change.
