The Happsy Organic Hybrid and Naturepedic Serenade are two adult mattresses we could match across manufacturer pages, exact Amazon listings and UL's primary certification records. Naturepedic's scope certificate names the Serenade finished mattress. Happsy identifies certified cotton, wool and latex materials, but we did not independently match a finished-product GOTS record for that mattress. Both model families have GREENGUARD Gold listings. Both also use latex and coils, so neither is a fit for someone seeking a latex-free or all-foam bed.
"Non-toxic mattress" is not a regulated certification. A useful comparison starts by naming what each mark covers, then moves to the ordinary purchase details: dimensions, feel, height, delivery and return terms.
Certified adult mattresses at a glance
| Mattress | Queen size | Construction | Amazon status |

Happsy: the lower-profile option
The current Happsy product specification identifies the queen as model HPSY-Q and 60 x 80 x 10 inches. Happsy says its build uses GOTS-certified organic cotton and wool, a GOLS-certified organic latex comfort layer and individually encased steel coils. We did not independently match the finished mattress to a GOTS scope record. The exact Amazon API title identifies this ASIN as the medium-firm queen.
UL's primary SPOT database lists HAPPSY Organic Mattresses (all sizes/options) under GREENGUARD Gold. That mark addresses chemical emissions from the finished product. It does not tell you whether the surface will feel soft enough or whether the coil response will suit your sleeping position.
Check the Happsy Organic Hybrid queen on Amazon. The exact ASIN was low in stock when checked, so verify both size and seller before ordering. See our Happsy Organic Bed: Mattress, Foundation and Sheets, Each With MADE SAFE Certification.
Naturepedic Serenade: one inch taller, with a lead time
The Serenade specification lists its queen at 60 x 80 x 11 inches, model MQ63, with a cushion-firm feel. The mattress combines a latex comfort layer with encased coils and an organic cotton-and-wool quilted surface.
Naturepedic's GOTS scope certificate specifically names Serenade mattresses. Its current product page also distinguishes the scopes: GOTS applies to the finished mattress, while GOLS applies to the latex material. UL SPOT separately lists Naturepedic Organic Serenade Mattresses (all sizes/options) with GREENGUARD Gold certification.
Check the Serenade cushion-firm queen on Amazon. Amazon showed a two-to-three-week shipping estimate rather than immediate stock when we checked.
What the three certification claims actually cover
- GOTS: Naturepedic's cited scope certificate names the Serenade finished mattress. Happsy's current product page identifies GOTS-certified cotton and wool, but the captured evidence does not establish independently matched finished-product GOTS scope for Happsy. It is not a comfort score.
- GOLS: This is the organic latex standard. Here it supports the latex component, not the cotton, wool, coils or the entire assembled mattress.
- GREENGUARD Gold: UL tests the finished product against chemical-emissions limits. It does not mean "chemical-free," and it does not assess every health or performance question.

Our GOTS versus GREENGUARD Gold explainer goes deeper on why the marks answer different questions. If you are buying for an infant, use the separate organic crib mattress guide; adult softness and infant sleep-surface requirements should not be conflated. For how GOTS, OEKO-TEX, and GREENGUARD Gold compare across the whole bed, not just the mattress, see our non-toxic bedding certification guide.
How to choose between these two
Choose Happsy if a 10-inch profile and medium-firm description better fit your frame and bedding. Choose Serenade if its 11-inch cushion-firm construction is the closer match and you can accommodate the listed delivery lead time. Those are specification-based distinctions, not results from our own sleep testing.
Before checkout, confirm the queen variant, read the current return and trial terms on the seller page, and check whether in-home setup is included. Mattresses are expensive and cumbersome to return; certification alone should not shortcut those practical checks.
Frequently asked questions
Does GOTS certify the whole mattress?
The cited Naturepedic scope certificate names the Serenade mattress. For Happsy, our evidence supports certified-material claims rather than an independently matched finished-product GOTS record. GOLS is a separate component-level claim for latex.
Does GREENGUARD Gold mean zero VOCs?
No. It means the product met UL's specified low-emission limits under its testing program, not that every emission is zero.
Are these latex-free mattresses?
No. Both use latex comfort layers.
