“MADE SAFE certified hand soap” is a narrower search than “non-toxic hand soap.” Most hand soap coverage, including two guides on this site, relies on EWG marks. MADE SAFE® is a different program, run by a different nonprofit, with its own screening list. What MADE SAFE® Actually Screens For
MADE SAFE® is a nonprofit ingredient-screening certification from Nontoxic Certified. Ingredients in a formulation are reviewed against its Banned/Restricted list of over 15,000 substances, which flags concerns such as carcinogenicity, endocrine disruption and environmental persistence.
